How was your Christmas? I hope you had a wonderful time and that Santa was kind to you 😉 I had some lovely presents, including some fabulous jewellery and a new storage stool for my dressing room (a.k.a “Blog HQ”). Actually, my husband refers to it as “the disaster room” but it’s tidy at the moment as we had a full house over Christmas.
It fell to me to set December’s Style Not Age theme, and as we’re in the depths of Winter I wanted to choose something to make us feel good. Velvet, pearls and faux fur came to mind, hence the theme of Winter Opulence. I didn’t manage to incorporate any faux fur into my outfit – I think it would have been too much. The headband makes quite a statement and I didn’t want to cover the dress up.
I bought this navy velvet dress almost a year ago but this is the first time I’ve worn it. It feels amazing to wear, it’s so soft and comfortable. I’ve also been desperate to wear this headband but I hadn’t had the opportunity until now. I took it on holiday to Madeira but Isobel wore it instead. I also have a black and white striped version. The mustard velvet with the pearls reminds me of something from Tudor times. I added some gold and pearl earrings to compliment it.
This gorgeous rainbow druzy ring was a Christmas present to myself…does anyone else buy themselves Christmas gifts? It’s by Yaa Yaa London – a brand that popped up in my Instagram feed via another blogger. Their jewellery is absolutely stunning and right up my street. The rings are adjustable so there’s a little bit of give in them. My bracelet is also new – I bought it from a local shop that’s sadly closing down. It’s perfect for this outfit, and it was only £5!

That is a gorgeous dress! Velvet feels fabulous on our bodies doesn’t it! Love the ring too, have to check that site.
I totally adore your velvet dress, Emma! I’ve always loved velvet, it’s so soft and opulent. Your headband is very regal and I can totally get the Tudor influence in it lol.

I’m loving velvet right now and I have nothing velvet at all. Your links for velvet dresses are really intriguing and I may have to have a closer look at some of those. That dress is stunning on you and the accessories are perfect. I love the yellows and golds with the navy. What a great purse and a fabulous ring and how fun is that headband?! This was a great choice of style topics for this time of year – great job! Best wishes for an amazing 2020!

I think I’ve already said this, but you look positively regal in this beautiful velvet dress Emma. I love that amazing hairband too! Thanks for this challenge – it was such a good choice at this time of year.
Happy New Year to you xxx
It was a good decision not to cover the velvet dress with any faux fur coat! The dress is perfect and it suits you well. Besides, the headband makes quite a statement.
Happy New Year Emma!
