It’s funny how sometimes when you start looking for a particular item and end up with something else instead. That’s how I came to own this blouse; I was looking for a green sheer pussy bow blouse. I’ve been kicking myself for not buying the Zara organza bow blouse that’s now sold out. (It’s available on eBay, but without the safety net of being able to return it I was reluctant to shell out almost £50 on it). So I searched for something similar, and found this blue one that I just had to have.
I ordered a medium (that according to the size chart should have fitted me) but it was too tight on the bust. When I checked, the large was sold out and I really didn’t want to send it back, but after a week or so it came back into stock…on sale at half price! And it was also available in emerald green! So I sent the medium back and ordered both the blue and green in a large…happy days!
I love the dramatic ruffles and pussy bow. The only styling problem it presents is that it’s sheer all over, so I have to wear a vest underneath. Ideally I’d have a very thin nude one, but I had to make do with a black one instead, which is fine with the black skirt. The ruffles cover the bust area anyway, but as you’ll see from the last photo, it is very see-through. Definitely not office-appropriate without a vest underneath!
To emphasis the drama of the blouse I opted for a body con skirt. Pairing the blue sheer ruffle blouse and pencil skirt creates a look that’s a little prim, but playful at the same time. The zip on the back of the skirt is a fun detail. I added bold blue sunglasses to match the blouse and my tweed Kurt Geiger bag to introduce a third colour.

The cute diamante frog ring is a perfect colour match for the bag!

I would call this a mrs Slocumbe blouse but I love it. Great colour and I’m loving all the ruffles and puff sleeves and bows that are on trend. The sunglasses work perfectly too xx
Dang, that is absolutely gorgeous Emma. And I love how you paired the blue sunglasses with it too!! I have a couple of totally sheer tops like this…one of these days, I might be brave enough to try just a bra (but I doubt it, LOL)

Everything about this is just beautiful!! Love it!
Wow – that top makes such an amazing statement! Love the bold color and cannot wait to see the emerald green version. 🙂
I would totally wear this outfit! It’s gorgeous! You look stunning in it. I’m never over keen on buying blouses that are sheer either – I hate it buying tops that mean I have to wear something underneath!! But it is a very special blouse, and I LOVE your choice of accessories, Emma.
