When an email landed in my inbox last week announcing the launch of the Dawn O’Porter x Joanie collection I hotfooted it straight over to the website! Of all the dresses pictured in the email, this was the one that my eyes went to immediately. I’m a sucker for a retro floral print, especially if it’s orange!
It seems I wasn’t the only one bowled over by this dress because it’s out of stock already. It’s still available in a green print though, which I’ve linked in the widget. Now, I know from previous experience that Joanie tends to run big so I ordered a size 8 and 10. The 8 (which is what I’m wearing) is a slightly better fit…but… there’s a flaw in the fabric. My dilemma is, do I keep it anyway or keep the 10 instead? I’ll have to try the 10 on again and photograph it. I’m also pondering whether to order one of the other designs too…they are all so beautiful and not too expensive either. This one was £65 but I had a discount code so got 10% off.
On Saturday we went to a party in the Lake District and I took this dress with me as my “plan B”. In the end I stuck with my original outfit of a Jil Sander black dress (a departure from my usual style). I would probably have felt more “like me” in this to be honest, but it only arrived an hour before we set off – just enough time to iron it! Unfortunately my phone died as we arrived at the meeting point so I didn’t get any photos, but Pete took a few. We had a two-hour trip on Lake Ullswater before a disco and some delicious food at a former mill. We then got up very early on Sunday morning and drove to MediaCity in Salford as I was working. By the afternoon I was exhausted! I can’t burn the candle at both ends any more!

First thing I thought: Gerben would love this dress, he likes a retro print. Me too, so I immediately scrolled to see thhe green one! That would e a perfect one for me with the black! Fantastic. What a amazing dress! Oh and thanks for the feature!!
What a beautiful dress!
Emma, this dress is so fabulous and so totally you! I love the retro print and you always wear orange so well. I can understand why you couldn’t resist adding this dress to your wardrobe! As for burning the candle at both ends, I can’t do it anymore either. We just returned from a festival camping trip and I am so exhausted. It is going to take me a week to recover from a 4 day trip.
