We usually go on our Summer holiday to my Dad’s in Brittany during August, but this year we made the most of the school term ending early and went in July. This meant that the weather was much better and I got to spend my birthday there. To celebrate we had a family meal out at a lovely restaurant called La Passerelle in the seaside town of St-Quay-Portrieux. People dress casually in Brittany so I wore jeans and my new Adidas Stan Smith trainers in white and rose gold (a birthday present from my husband). My trusty Zara navy jacket goes everywhere with me because it’s perfect for pairing with jeans. It was quite a warm evening so I wore a silk Paris print top from Equipment.
I never bother taking heels on holiday any more because they’re just not practical. For this trip I just took FitFlops, a pair of low wedge espadrilles and my Stan Smith trainers. Confession time…I also took my running shoes but didn’t use them due to the heat and, ahem, copious amounts of wine. When in France and all that.
I find it quite easy to pack for Brittany now and streamline my packing to a capsule of sensible footwear, jeans, t-shirts and a couple of jumpers. This time we were lucky enough to have beach weather so a couple of bikinis and a cover up went in the case too. If you follow me on Instagram you might have seen some of the beautiful beaches we went to. Due to the sun setting so late we were going later on in the afternoon and sunbathing until 8pm some days!
My Dad and step-mum are regular visitors to La Passerelle and know the owners well. It’s a very relaxed atmosphere with wonderful food and views of the harbour.
Scallops are one of my favourite foods and luckily for me they are in plentiful supply in Brittany, so choosing what to order wasn’t difficult. The main course was delicious, as was the tarte au citron meringuée (basically lemon meringue tart) I had for dessert – complete with an indoor firework! Afterwards we took a stroll around the harbour, enjoying the late evening sun. Perfect.
Jacket: Zara (old, similar here and I also love this one with the red trim) | top: Equipment (I love this one) | jeans: Gap (similar) | trainers: Adidas (they are available with a yellow gold heel, and you can also get them in silver and leopard print…hello new addiction!)

Thanks Nicole!
I always bring work out clothes and shoes on vacation but rarely use them, too! Oh well! Those scallops look delicious! They are a favorite of mine, too.
Glad it’s not just me that “forgets” to work out on holiday then! 😉
Gorgeous photos! I love this effortless look on you! So chic!

Thank you Jill 🙂
Loving this outfit – I’m still struggling with the concept of trainers to go out in, but I’m getting there!
Thanks Christine! It took me a while to try wearing trainers for anything other than running and the gym, but I was inspired to give it a go after seeing other bloggers doing it. As long as they’re clean and smart I think they can work well with a smart/casual outfit. Tatty or muddy trainers would be a definite no-no for me. The sales assistant warned me that Stan Smiths are very difficult to keep clean so I’ve been extremely careful in them!
Love the print on your top! So fun!
