I’ve always loved fruit prints but they have really exploded this summer. The fashion world might already be moving on and looking ahead to autumn but I’m holding on to summer for as long as possible. TK Maxx is promoting Halloween stock…IN JULY! And, I had an email today inviting me to sign up to the waiting list for an advent calendar. Please, can we just enjoy the summer? It’ll be over way too soon for my liking. Let’s just say that I will not be trading lemons and strawberries for pumpkins for the foreseable.
I like to rotate my holiday wardrobe and add a couple of new things for each trip. When I saw this skirt on the New Look website I couldn’t resist it…it’s perfect for a holiday in the sun. I love that this fruit print skirt features papaya because I think I ate my bodyweight in it in Cape Verde. It’s quite an expensive fruit in the UK, so when it’s in plentiful supply at an all-inclusive resort I make sure I fill my boots…or sandals. There was a matching top to go with this dress (oh, how I love a co-ord) but sadly it was out of stock in my size. I will be watching avidly on Vinted for it! Thanks to the array of bright colours in the print, I have lots of other options. For its first outing, I paired the skirt with a vibrant blue vest top that I bought in Madeira.
The green bag probably wouldn’t have been my first choice, but I only took three small bags and this one looked better than the others. For a more casual look, I could wear the skirt with a fruit motif T-shirt, colourful trainers and a crossbody bag. A button-down shirt in either white or a bright colour would look good too.
This is the last of my holiday outfits; I only shot three. I was going to photograph my lemon print co-ord but as I ended up flying back a day early I didn’t manage it. I’m not sure if we’ll go anywhere during October half term. I think I’ll be ready for a break away somewhere by then. Mum’s funeral is on August 15th, then I’ll have to think about what to do with the bungalow. It doesn’t seem like five minutes ago I was unpacking boxes and ordering new furniture. Now I’ve got to think about getting rid of things.
It’s important to have things to look forward to during difficult times. We’re going to see AC/DC in Scotland on the 21st – which is also GCSE results day! It’ll be a mad scramble for Isobel to enrol in college before hitting the road and heading north of the border. Oh, and tomorrow I’m going to walk some alpacas with a friend…that should be an experience! I’ll let you know how it goes.

Love this outfit on you! The colorful printed fruit skirt is perfect for summer and a holiday, and so much fun! I am not in a rush or fall to come either, the summer has seemed so short this year, and I like to make the most of it, too. Your daughter Isobel is lovely, I can’t believe she is headed off for college soon. Thanks so much for the feature from last week, I really appreciate it. Hope you have a good rest of the week and the experience of walking the Alpaca!
A wonderful skirt! I love the colors. You look great in that look, Emma.
Mother and daughter, both beautiful thank you for including me in your favorites of the week.
Have a good time.
That skirt is absolutely gorgeous, Emma! I’d prefer it if it didn’t have papayas though because I really dislike them LOL!! But the print and colours are fabulous. I know you said you weren’t keen on the green bag with the outfit but I rather like it! As I live in Portugal, I’m actually wanting the summer to end early lol….sorry!! he he he
Hugs
Suzy xx
PS Isobel’s hair is getting so long!
Looking wonderful in this outfit, your skin is glowing. Very hard to deal with the sale of your mum’s bungalow, so soon after getting it, with all the hope that implies. Sending a virtual hug x
So sorry to hear that you lost your Mum Emma, thoughts are prayers are with you. Emotions are very raw at the moment but, in time, you’ll be able to smile through the tears again.
