How are you all doing? I hope you had a wonderful Christmas! It was a very quiet one for us, just the three of us. Isobel woke us up at 6.30am, which after a late night finishing the wrapping left me needing a nap before Christmas lunch. It’s just as well that Pete does the cooking or we’d have been eating it in the evening! I had planned to visit my mum between Christmas and New Year, but she went into tier 4 on Boxing Day and we were put into tier 3 so that was totally scuppered. Thankfully non-essential shops are still open for us so I’ll be getting out and about to shop the sales .
When Hilda chose the theme of ‘Out and About’ for this month’s Style Not Age collaboration my thoughts turned to brisk walks and sale shopping. I’ll do most of my shopping online but I do like a browse in the shops when I can face the crowds. I won’t venture into Manchester though, I’ll stick to the local shops instead. January looks likely to be busy for me in terms of work so I’ll be getting out and about a lot in the new year (Covid permitting!). I think I prefer to be busy in January because I find it such a dreary month. Sitting at home in PJs or joggers really doesn’t help either!
Today’s outfit is one I’d wear to work or for a day out shopping. I bought the faux fur coat in a charity shop a few weeks ago. I hesitated buying it at first because I already own at least half a dozen faux fur coats. However, this one was just too good to pass on, especially at £5. It’s from Marks & Spencer’s Per Una Speziale range so it’s really good quality. Sticking with a warm colour palette, I teamed it with a wrap skirt in a rusty shade and brown roll neck top. My bag, bracelet and earrings add the hit of bright colour I need in the depths of winter. A hat in a similar shade to the skirt finishes off my ‘Out and About’ outfit.

Emma, I love this outfit! And what a great charity shop find with that coat! I wouldn’t have been able to resist it either despite having multiple faux fur coats myself! And that skirt is so good. I love little plaid skirts so much! I just went thrift shopping on Sunday and scored really adorable booties that are on my blog today as well as a super little plaid skirt!

The shades in your skirt are so yummy! Love the orange purse. Wonderful outfit, Emma!
Such a cute ensemble this time Emma! I understand why you couldn’t pass that sweet fur coat by – I would have been the same. Love the pop of orange too and agree that we do need a burst of colour at this time of year.
Happy New year to you!
