Snake Print Suit + Style With a Smile Link Up

I first featured this snake print suit on the blog in September 2022. It was a new-to-me second hand purchase then, which I bought from Thrift+. I’d signed up to Second Hand September, so my outfit was largely made of of pre-loved items. Then, almost two years ago I wore it again with the same T-shirt and bag, but different footwear. That was for the Thrifty Six theme of “Animal Print But Not Leopard”. Fast forward another two years (that have passed far too quickly!) and I’m sticking with burgundy as the complimenting colour, just with a different top and bag. I think I need to mix things up and try navy next time!

It’s one of those outfits that I can pull out of the wardrobe and put together in minutes. We all need those tried and tested formulas for days when we’re in a rush or don’t have the mental bandwidth to mess about trying new combinations, don’t you agree? This snake print suit is very comfortable thanks to the sporty fit of the trousers which have an elasticated waistband. I find when I’m in the office and sitting for most of the day, I can feel a bit bloated and uncomfortable by the afternoon if my waistband is a bit snug. The elaborate print prevents it from looking too casual, not that that’s an issue where I work.

The jacket is a thinner fabric than the trousers, making it ideal for wearing under a coat during the colder months. As such, it’s a great transeasonal outfit, especially with the mixture of light neutrals with warmer, richer tones mixed in. Burgundy is always one of my favourite colours for autumn/winter, along with chocolate brown, forest green and rust. But obviously, I’ll still be wearing bold, bright hues all year round! Dopamine dressing is needed more than ever in the depths of winter!
