Happy Monday! As it’s the first one of the month the Stylish Monday group is back for another style challenge. This month we’re showing you how we style maxi dresses. It couldn’t have come at a better time given the hot and humid weather we’ve had for the last few days. Us Brits don’t seem to cope all that well with heat and humidity – probably because we’re not used to it. Anyway, I’m not complaining because before we know it Summer will be over…gotta make the most of it while it lasts!
Maxi dresses are great for covering up while staying cool. This dress is one of my favourites; it’s stretchy, doesn’t crease…and it has pockets! Unlike some of my other deep V neck maxi dresses, this one sits in just the right place. It really bugs me when I have to use safety pins to prevent gaping because they always show. I don’t have to wear a strapless bra either as the dress straps cover my bra straps. The fabric is quite light but it is double-layered so I don’t have to worry about my underwear showing through.
The dress is from a collaboration I did with JD Williams three years ago. In that post I discussed why this dress is the perfect beach to bar maxi dress, and it’s been a holiday staple ever since. I love that it’s stretchy enough to pull on over the hips, and I can roll it up and stuff it in a bag without it creasing. Plus, I can wash it in the sink and it dries in next to no time!
I’ve added black, white and gold accents with my jewellery and accessories. Sticking to a simple colour palette is an easy way to avoid over packing (said the least minimalist person ever!), but you know, my intentions are good! I bought the necklace and ring on holiday in Cape Verde several years ago. I rediscovered the little tassel bag while searching through the wardrobe for some accessory inspiration. I’d completely forgotten about this eBay bargain I had stored away. It doesn’t hold much more than a phone, bank card and some lipstick but that’s all you need on an evening out, right? 😉

I love your fashion style and always look forward to our monthly collaboration!
Great maxi dress and yes, the UK is having a warmer than usual summer.
I also love maxi dresses with pockets!
Love the fringe bag!
See you next month!

I really like this maxi dress. It’s more of a column that tiered or flared (it may flare, but it’s hard to tell). Very chic. I love your quote, haha, about not being a minimalist.
I just love maxi dresses! Adore how everyone styled theirs. Yours is so pretty!!
