Hello, how’s your week going so far? All the shops and TV channels seem to be in the festive mood already! I still think it’s a bit early yet – another couple of weeks and I’ll get the Christmas decorations out. I might even break out the sequins too! But until then I’m still wearing unseasonably bright colours. A couple of weeks ago I wore this orange blouse with lilac trousers. I liked that colour combination so much that I’ve put together a similar outfit in lavender and orange. I’ve switched the colours around this time by wearing orange on the bottom and a lavender coat.
The starting point for the outfit was actually the retro floral print top. I bought it from a shop called Inside at the Forum Madeira shopping centre in Funchal. Stretchy jersey turtleneck tops are autumn/winter wardrobe staple pieces for me. It’s so easy to layer a knitted vest or jumper over them. Just after taking these photos I had to go to the shop and it was cold, so I put an orange vest (seen in this post) over it. I think I was the most colourful person in Lidl!
There is a lot of bright orange in this outfit – enough to make me think twice – but the light was fading and I didn’t have time to faff. Adding any other colours would have spoiled the effect of the orange column. (I love to match footwear to trousers to make my legs look longer). As it was a few days before Armistice Day I added my purple poppy that I knitted a few years ago. Purple poppies represent all the animals that died in combat, something we don’t hear too much about. I bought a really cute acrylic brooch on holiday that will look great with this coat. Lavender is probably considered more of a spring colour but I’m sure I’ll be wearing this coat again over the coming months.

I did not know that about the purple poppy. Thanks for sharing. I think you are so good at putting together bold colors. I love purple and rust so I should also love lavender and orange! I wear the colors that I like all year long as long as they are warm or cool enough for me.
Thanks for the link up!
