Luxe Layering – September’s Style Not Age

September 26, 2022

Autumn is well and truly with us now. I’ve been digging out the jumpers and turtle neck tops and putting my sandals away (sigh). I’m not a fan of autumn, even less so winter. I don’t enjoy the short days and long nights or the cold weather. However, I do love wearing autumnal colours. And as I’m determined not to put the heating on until October, this month’s Style Not Age theme of Luxe Layering (Gail’s choice) is very appropriate.

It feels like it’s time to make the switch from jackets to coats about now. This faux leather coat isn’t too thick but it still feels cosy thanks to the faux fur trim. It’s been a while since I last wore this waistcoat and trouser suit from The Hippie Shake. I would love to style it with a frilly blouse for a full on Austin Powers vibe. (I’m on the lookout for one in orange or brown but still abstaining from buying new clothes). It works really well with my brown roll neck jersey top though. These trousers are quite long so I’ve chosen some chunky block heel ankle boots. A cute little brown bag (that’s not very practical!) finishes off this luxe layering outfit.

Let’s see how my blogger friends are luxe layering for the colder weather…

Gail is wearing no fewer than three layers: a silky roll neck, cotton V neck, short tie wrap and camel ruched skirt, all from Kettlewell Colours.  She has accessorised with a scarf from M&S and rose gold boots from Hush. Head over to Is This Mutton? for all the details.

Hilda has layered a leather jacket over a silk shirt, topped off with a coat from last year’s sale at Selected. You can read all about it at Over The Hilda.

Anna’s ensemble is comprised of some “ancient” trousers from New Look with a jacket and lace blouse bought in charity shops, layered over a vest from H&M. Swing by Anna’s Island Style for all the details.

Jacqui of Mummabstylish has combined a pair of jeans from River Island with a crochet top from Next, a new silky blouse from Zara, topped off with a long line cream jacket.  Matching green tie up shoes and a new bag from a recent trip to Savoca in Sicily finish off this stylish look.

That’s all for this month…we’ll be back on the last Monday of October with our next theme!
