I’m sure you know how much I love a matching set, especially for holidays. When I bought these trousers on Vinted earlier in the year I was hopeful of finding a matching top. I’m not sure one actually exists, but I did look for a while. Previously, I’ve paired the trousers with an orange top and fun lemon bag. But when I was packing for my recent trip to Madeira, I realised that this shirt works really well with them.
One of the tricks to mixing patterns is to choose similar colour palettes. It helps that the tomatoes on the top look very similar to the oranges on the trousers. The checker board print and blue running through both also helps to keep the look cohesive. There’s actually more fish than fruit in the top – first course and dessert in one outfit!
I wore this outfit for wandering around Funchal, having lunch and doing a spot of shopping. Both the top and trousers are light and airy, perfect for the humidity. The Strive sandals* have been absolute life savers since I got them a couple of years ago. I take them on every holiday and wear them all through summer. When I find clothes or shoes that I can’t be without, I dread them wearing out – are you the same? I try to buy a backup that’s either the same or similar. The Strive website doesn’t have these in my size anymore but there are a few pairs of similar sandals in the outlet section. I’m hoping they restock more sandals for next summer. I can’t live without adjustable straps now!

This turned out to be a great pattern mix! The color palettes in the different prints go together perfectly. Your photos are lovely in these spots with the village behind you. Hope you had a wonderful trip, and thanks for sharing and hosting the link up!
If you hadn’t said these weren’t a set, I wouldn’t have known! They look perfect together. You look gorgeous as always! Thanks for the link party!

Emma, what a cheerful and creative outfit! The way the two prints work together through the shared colors is perfect. This look exudes a playful feeling but still totally polished. I also get the worry about favorite pieces wearing out; when something fits just right, it’s hard to imagine not having it as an option anymore.

What a great outfit. Looks like they were made for each other. I’ve got a dress this reminds me of, it’s a sun dress covered with fish/beach themes. Jacqui
