It seems hard to believe, but 10 years ago yesterday I published my first blog post! I almost forgot my blog anniversary to be honest, it’s been such a busy week. I’ve been at my mum’s for almost a week catching up with family. As any mum will know, the Summer holidays are spent trying to occupy easily bored children. That’s even more of a challenge when they’re not able to play with friends. (Apparently, taking blog photos isn’t a welcome distraction!) In the space of three days Isobel has acquired three new pairs of shoes – I think we all know who she takes after in that respect!
Although I’m not a particularly practical person, I have done a few jobs around the house and garden. The ramshackle wooden structure behind me in these photos was once a stable. I had a pony when I was a child, and for a few years my cousin and her pony lived with us. My pony’s stable has been pulled down now, but the one behind me has asbestos on the roof so needs a specialist to remove it. My great uncle owned the house before my parents, and before that my great grandparents lived there and had 15 children! I can’t imagine what that was like as it’s only a cottage!
Anyway, let’s talk about my outfit. I couldn’t believe my luck when I found this orange belted jumpsuit in a charity shop; it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for – and best of all it was only £5.99! The label says Nutmeg, which is Morrisons supermarket’s own range. I’ve worn it twice in the last week already! With only three buttons, it’s quite easy to get on and off. Plus, it doesn’t crease!
I only had two bags to choose from at my mum’s, so rather than black, I chose this purple one for a colour contrast. My handmade polymer clay earrings are perfect for it. I haven’t made any for ages, so I need to get back to it! The chunky necklace is a recent impulse purchase from TKMaxx. It’s one of those things that I didn’t know I wanted until I saw it! You may remember seeing my initial necklace in a previous post. And of course, how could you forget these flamboyant sunglasses from Megan Fabulous that the lovely Lou – aka Luinluland – brought over from the US for me! Meeting up with her in Cardiff was one of the highlights of my summer!
I changed them for some plain black ones when I walked to the shop though because it was windy and the tassels were blowing from side to side! Isobel took a photo of me by the cricket pavilion which has a really cool mural on it. It’s no match for the fabulous walls in L.A, but it sums up the last year and a half perfectly.
