Say Yes to the Dress! April's Style Not Age, & Other Stories yellow satin dress

It was my turn to choose a theme for this month’s Style Not Age post and I was a bit stuck for ideas at first. It was actually going through my cases and rediscovering lots of dresses that I haven’t worn for ages that gave me the idea for “Say Yes to the Dress!” I’m usually in trousers, except for in very warm weather, but it’s good to break out of the routine sometimes.

I last wore this dress almost six years ago! Even then, it was only briefly on holiday in France. When I pulled it out of the case all crumpled, I remembered why I don’t wear it: it doesn’t travel well! I will reserve it for closer to home. The colour is certainly on trend this season so I’ve no excuse – especially as the weather is warming up. Unusually for me, I didn’t want a bold colour contrast, the pale yellow shade is too delicate for that. So, I’ve kept my accessories neutral, with just a a subtle pattern in the fabric bag.

The kitties have just started going outside and they are loving it! George wanted to be in all the photos…when he wasn’t chasing flies! Teddy is the curious one and was busy exploring the garden. He’s already been over the fence into the neighbour’s garden and loves sitting on the shed roof to survey his territory. I’ll post some Instagram stories of them getting up to mischief…they have their own account too – @georgeandteddytuxedocats!

I love this butter yellow on you, Emma! It’s gorgeous against your hair! I have a linen dress in that color so I’ll need to wear it this summer for sure!

  3. I love all of the color here everyone is wearing! I popped into Zara in London and there were a few butter yellow pieces, but none that caught my eye. I love this shade, and it is a wonderful dress on you, love the cut. Great pairing as well with the accessories. I’m on the hunt for a dress, blouse, this color.
    Have a great week!
