It’s already the last Monday of the month, which means it’s time for the latest Style Not Age challenge! When Hilda chose the theme of March Madness I wasn’t sure whether having such a free reign on how to interpret it was a good thing or not. After a bit of brainstorming we all came up with different ideas of what we could base our outfits on, as you’ll see further down. My March Madness consists of muppets, stripes and faux fur to create a suitably crazy outfit!
If ever there was the perfect opportunity to wear my Irregular Choice Muppets shoes this was it. Shoes don’t get much crazier than these! I loved the Muppets as a child so when I discovered Irregular Choice had released a range of shoes with my favourite characters on I had to get a pair. I was tempted by the Miss Piggy shoes, but red always wins for me, especially when they have faux fur AND glitter on them 🙂
Shoes this ostentatious need to be shown in all their glory, so I chose this striped pencil skirt. It still had the tags on it!I bought it from Cocosa years ago but it got a bit tight (or rather I got too big for it) but happily I can now fit in it. It has a red waistband which unfortunately is hidden by the top.
It was a tough choice between this wrap top and my red ruffle blouse, but I wanted to wear the charm necklace. Plus, I think the wrap top compliments the pencil skirt more. Piling on more red I added a faux fur clutch, enamel ring and Moschino sunglasses.
Even though in the true spirit of “March Madness” I could have worn big earrings as well as the necklace, I decided against it. I seem to have lots of statement earrings but not many of the more subtle variety. To remedy that I removed the tassels from a pair and just wore the plastic discs. In an ideal world I would have had a hat with a massive brim for a really OTT look, but I had to settle for a fedora instead. Note to self: buy a big crazy hat. And more earrings 😉

Even the soles are decorated…it almost seems a shame to walk on them!

Hilda has really gone for it in this amazing fancy dress get-up she wore for a murder mystery evening! I absolutely LOVE the pink wig! Do pop across to Over the Hilda to see more fantastic photos…you might even find out “whodunnit”!
Jacqui has stepped out of her comfort zone by teaming a neon snakeprint skirt with a graphic tee and biker jacket. I love the combination of edgy and ladylike in one outfit. You can see all the details at Mummabstylish!
Anna has turned this challenge on its head with the motto “Let’s bin the beige and have fun with colour”….and dressed head to toe in beige. As I’m sure you know, Anna loves mixing bright colours and clashing prints, so this look is way out of her comfort zone. Beige is one of Spring’s big trends, but not everyone can carry it off. Yet Anna has done a magnificent job of wearing beige by mixing textures and adding shine to her outfit. Sue Kreitzman famously said “Don’t wear beige – it might kill you”…maybe she should take style advice from Anna! Check out Anna’s Island Style to read more!

I honestly never truly knew what March Madness meant lol but now I do. Because I am a huge lover of red your outfit is hands down my favorite. All those stunning red pieces – especially the shoes and clutch. Love that those funky shoes say “louder” too because they are loud but in an excellent way. I own an almost identical top to yours, too. I also love Anna’s fabulous, all beige look. Truly classy and modern!
I’d love for you to join my linkup currently on the blog. Perfect for this outfit too since it is a skirt-themed linkup. Thanks and welcome by, <3 Ada. Also, welcome by Thursday for Thursday Moda. =) Thanks!!

To be perfectly honest Emma, I really love your outfit and wouldn’t think twice about wearing it – what does this say about where my fashion bar is set? The shoes are totally awesome with those furry heels and stupendous soles! It was a great challenge for all of us and was good to be pushed out of our comfort zone.
Digging the combination of navy blue, white and red, and the focal point, obviously those fun shoes! I am sure you have to smile putting those on! Great look.
thanks for lnking!
