Welcome to another Stylish Monday link up! This month we’re styling our colourful kimonos for Summer! We’re having some gorgeous weather here in the UK, so I’ve been digging out my holiday clothes. I was working last week when I needed to shoot these photos, and as both my holidays were cancelled I thought it’d be fun to incorporate this beach cover up kimono into an everyday outfit. Well that was part of the reason for this outfit; the truth is I don’t own a long kimono…hard to believe, right?
Long duster-style kimonos don’t seem to be that popular here, unlike in the U.S. I’ve been looking for one but just can’t find what I want. Of course I also turned to eBay but there’s not too much choice there either. There seems to be a divergence over what constitutes a kimono, which doesn’t make searching straight forward. Anyway, I’m sure I’ll find the perfect one now that this post is done and dusted!
I was about to go to work when we shot these photos and didn’t have much time, so I didn’t want to get changed. Wearing the kimono to complete the outfit instead of a jacket is a cooler option; as it happened, it was too hot for either! The top I’m wearing underneath is a really old one (I also have it in cobalt blue) that has sheer sleeves and neckline. It’s a good compromise between long and short sleeves. I didn’t want to be dressed in all black without the kimono so I chose these fuchsia trousers with a black side stripe. (I’ve featured them before on the blog here).
My polka dot kitten heel shoes add a fun touch, and my ring, earrings and watch tie in with the black and white theme. I found the earrings in a charity shop and had to buy them as the match my wooden and shell ring perfectly!

Andy of Pearls and Pantsuits: “I love to dress up my graphic tees by adding a fun kimono, like this leopard print one, to the mix.”
Julie of Fashion Trends and Friends: “My kimono is reversible and can be styled so many ways with many different colors! I love the ease of styling a kimono; and they’re flattering on all body types!”
Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style: “In the Netherlands the kimono style isn’t as popular as it is in the US. Therfore I used a wrap dress in a silky fabric as a Kimono. Also the print reminds me a bit of Japanese kimonos!”
Suzanne of Ask Suzanne Bell: “Changing times have inspired me to change up my wardrobe. A switch up to a jacket or cardigan, I find I’m living in kimonos these days. The kimono I’m wearing can be worn multiple ways; tying her in the front as I did here, adds shape. The kimono belt doubles as a head wrap!”
Michele of see_chelestyles: “My white kimono I Thrifted it I tied the ends for a different way to wear it.”
Cindy of Middle Sister Style: “I bought this kimono at a boutique in Blue Ridge, Georgia several tears ago. I love the soft, feminine colors.”
Ada of Elegance and Mommyhood: “Late Spring is a great season to transfer and transition your kimonos into Summer. And that’s exactly what I did. A Beautiful Japanese-inspired Floral Silk Kimono over a simple White Tank Top. Accessorized with a little soft mustard yellow via my March Fisher Espadrille Wedges & Loft Sunglasses.”
Nina of Sharing a Journey: “I’m veering off kimonos this week because I styled a kimono three ways last month when we shared florals, I’ll share a special link for that!, And because It’s BLOG-A-VERSARY MONTH at Sharing A Journey! We have give-a-ways of my favorite things, gift cards and you can also grab My Free Picnic Planner with social distancing tips from Erin Bromage”

Thanks Kim! I want to get a longer one but they’re not easy to find here in the UK.

Thanks so much Anna!
Emma, I love your kimono! The bold print and the fringe are so beautiful. And the bright pink is absolutely perfect with all the black and white. Your jewelry, especially that amazing bracelet, is all so much fun. If you are still looking for kimonos, I know a lot of the Asian based sites carry them like Shein, Rosegal, Dresslily. And the prices are very affordable. Also, I have seen a bunch of really cute ones on Amazon.
