Sunday really lived up to its name…because it was a lovely sunny day, warm too. It was short lived though unfortunately as the rain has returned. Having seen the weather forecast, I shot these photos while I could! This vintage shirt has a matching skirt, but I wasn’t in a skirt mood – it’s going to take more than one sunny day to convince me to bare my legs! I took the set on holiday to Madeira but didn’t end up wearing it because it was too warm for long sleeves..
Vintage shirts look great with wide leg trousers, of which I have many pairs! The bright print gave me plenty of choice for trousers and accessories. Initially I thought about pairing the shirt with my bright pink culottes but I couldn’t remember where I’d packed them up for the winter (story of my life!). But while I was looking I found others that I’d forgotten about…including these yellow ones with the gold buttons. It was one of those pairings that came about by accident but I knew straight away that I wanted to wear this vintage shirt and yellow trousers together.
The shirt gapes a bit across the bust, but I could add some press studs in between the buttons to avoid flashing my bra. To play on all the colours of the shirt I added my rainbow beaded headband and fun heart sunglasses. I highlighted the yellow with the big tassel earrings (I have them in several colours).
I’m obsessed with these hot pink Vivaia mules (I already featured them a couple of weeks ago with a pink maxi dress). They are so comfortable, so whenever the weather permits, I’m eager to wear them. And they happen to match the pink of the shirt perfectly! I want to try a variation on this outfit with lime green trousers, and I’m hoping Vivaia make these mules in other bright colours…emerald green and orange would be fantastic!
