Orange Floral Print Midaxi Dress + Style With a Smile Link Up

Dawn O’Porter X Joanie - Gimlet Orange Floral Print Midaxi Dress

I’m transported back to Agadir for today’s post. I do miss the sunshine and the all inclusive buffet! Having to prepare my own salad and vegetables seems a bit of a bind in comparison…that’s if you’re lucky enough to find some in the shops! Tomatoes are particularly scarce at the moment; apparently poor weather in Spain and Morocco is to blame. Hmmm…there was certainly no shortage of salad in Morocco so what’s really going on? Could it be that B-word that nobody wants to mention?

This orange floral Print midaxi dress has more of a salmon pink tone than my other DOP x Joanie dress

Anyway, here I am in happier times, in a lovely retro style dress, with a belly full of tomatoes! This is my second dress from the Dawn O’Porter x Joanie Clothing range. I was so delighted with the Sunrise Psychedelic Print Midaxi Dress (see the post here) that I couldn’t resist buying this one when it went on sale. They do come up a quite big so I’m wearing a size 8 because a size 10 is too loose on the waist. This orange floral Print midaxi dress has more of a salmon pink tone than my other DOP x Joanie dress, which is a true orange. (The third collection has just dropped and it’s stunning!)

I joked on Instagram that I only packed orange outfits. Well, although there was a certain amount of planning and logic to that (we shared a case so I had to stick to a colour palette) it wasn’t until I unpacked that I realised just how far I’d taken the orange theme! Pete took one look and said “didn’t you pack ANY other colours?”…erm, it appears not! I have one other holiday outfit to share, which…you guessed it, is mostly orange! At least yesterday’s Style Not Age post featured a large helping of hot pink for some balance.

The shock of wearing sandals again

Apart from the trainers I travelled in (yes, they were orange!) I took three pairs of sandals with me: these, which are my most comfortable and go on every holiday, my pink satin wedges and gold toe post FitFlops. I made the mistake of walking around for an hour in the FitFlops trying to find a supermarket that sold soya milk. Not only did I not find any plant milk, but I ended up with red raw patches on my feet. After being in boots and trainers for months, my feet need time to get used to sandals and shoes again. I should have worn these white sandals instead. If I could find them again I’d buy half a dozen pairs!

  1. Nothing wrong with a little pop of colour. The orange is great and the pattern sets it off perfectly.

What wonderfully fun and fabulous dress! I’m so glad you were able to get your fill of tomatoes. I love them! It sucks that the B word is screwing up trade…, and now I’ll keep my mouth shut. 😀 Sounds like a great vacation!

You don’t even need sunshine with those colors! And what a gorgeous ring! I can imagine that you miss the sun and the warmth. I’m going to sit in the sun this afternoon, out of the wind with a blanket! I will enjoy!

That dress is stunning on you, Emma! And I can totally understand you just taking clothes in orange when that colour looks so good on you! I hope you managed to find some plant milk on your holiday. It’s clearly not somewhere that caters very well for us vegans!!
    Big hugs
    Suzy xx

Thanks so much Suzy! I didn’t find any plant milk but we were only there for five days so I had my coffee black and had cereal with fruit juice (not very nice) or dry toast and jam for breakfast. I’ve just seen adverts for powdered oat milk which is a game changer! I’m definitely getting some for my next trip!

I wore sandals last weekend in Palm Springs and they completely tore up my feet! Hoping yours heal soon, and love that bright orange dress on you!

Thanks Cheryl! It’s so frustrating when you finally get to wear sandals, only to end up with blisters and sore patches isn’t it? Hope yours heal quickly too.

Isn’t it funny how we are always drawn to the same things – I have numerous copies of dresses I have bought. This is perfect on you and just what you need for hot holidays. Hope you had fun. x Jacqui x

  13. Thanks so much for the feature Emma, such a sweet surprise!
I love your colorful maxi dress, perfect for a tropical vacay!
My feet always need some time to adjust to sandals too which is kind of funny since I live in such a warm climate and wear them often. Just a few weeks in closed shoes will do it!

I would have never thought about that with sandals, haha. But it makes sense. A good reason to get the lug sole ones, right??
I just love this colorful look Emma,
BTW, I’ve tried to sign up for emails and the only one I get is the link up one. Could you do it manually maybe or see if something is wonky??
