It feels good to put January behind me and look towards Spring. Yesterday it was still fully light at 4.30pm which is a sure sign we’re coming to the end of Winter. It’s around this time of year that I start to feel more motivated after the usual Winter torpor. I can now be more focused on the goals I’ve set myself for the year ahead.
Thinking about the New Year style resolutions I shared with you last week, my main goal is to buy less, buy well. I’ll never be able to limit myself to a capsule wardrobe, my tastes are too ecclectic! But investing in quality pieces doesn’t have to mean playing it safe. This Pom Amsterdam bordeaux jacket is a perfect example of that. The beautiful embroidered cuffs, pineapple brass button with little tassels and soft cupro animal print lining make this a very special piece. But then I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed after buying their black bugs jacket, which I adore. Pom Amsterdam jackets combine classic tailoring with beautiful and quirky details, making them wardrobe heroes.
I discovered Pom Amsterdam thanks to Jacynth at the-Bias-Cut.com, along with several other labels that have become my favourites. There’s currently a sale on and this jacket, which is also available in navy, is reduced to half price. I pondered over which colour to choose because my old go-to navy jacket is getting a bit tired now, but this deep red shade was too gorgeous to pass up.
This jacket is a longer length than the bugs jacket but every bit as versatile. It will instantly elevate a simple jeans and T-shirt combination, and will also look great with black tailored trousers. For a smart casual look I’ve teamed the Pom Amsterdam bordeaux jacket and utility trousers with heels. If I wanted to wear this outfit but had some walking to do I’d switch the heels for my burgundy FitFlop sock trainers; I could keep the shoes in my backpack and swap them back when I wanted 🙂 I’m currently waiting for a referrel to the orthopedic department after podiatry deemed me to be beyond help; even these sturdy Geox shoes are uncomfortable after a little while…bunions are no fun!
