I’m back with my first photos since my operation and it feels good! While it was useful to have a batch of outfit photos to fall back on during my recovery, I’ve been eager to shoot some new content. I may not have been able to drive for six weeks but that didn’t stop me shopping! To make up for lost time, today’s post is all about my Autumn wardrobe updates from Yumi. I was invited to choose some pieces from the new season collection and I’m delighted with what I picked.
You probably know by now how much I love trouser suits. When I saw these teal cord trousers* and matching waistcoat* I knew straight away I’d style it with a frilly blouse for a retro vibe. The cord fabric has a good amount of stretch so it’s super comfortable. I sized up to a 12 in the waistcoat, which was the right choice. With the trousers I ordered my usual size 10 and they’re quite generous. I probably could have fitted in an 8, so if you’re in between sizes I’d advise going down a size.
I teamed the trousers and waistcoat with a yellow frilly blouse for a colour contrast and finished the look with gold boots and bag. It was the first time I’d worn any footwear with a heel for months and I won’t be doing it again anytime soon! Maybe not the best idea after foot surgery, even if it was only for photos! (Better not tell my surgeon!)

Now, you know I’m not a capsule wardrobe kinda person; I like variety in my wardrobe and plenty of it. However, there are some items that form the basis of my autumn/winter wardrobe, particularly layering pieces such as cardigans and waistcoats. This knitted faux fur trimmed gilet* is perfect for finishing off an outfit, combining style, warmth and comfort. The stretchy knit trimmed with beautiful soft faux fur feels luxurious and instantly elevates a casual look. I kept the yellow frilly blouse on to illustrate how well these pieces I chose for my autumn wardrobe update all work together. It would look fabulous over a maxi dress with long boots for a boho vibe. I’ll definitely be styling it that way in the coming weeks.

I’m somewhat obsessed with reversible clothes and bags. I have a couple of other reversible jackets and raincoats which I wear a lot. A lightweight jacket like this one is perfect for travelling because you’re getting two looks in one. This reversible cotton cropped quilted jacket* features two fabulous prints that compliment each other. There are various colour and pattern options available in this style and similar jackets; I was spoilt for choice really, but red and the big cats won me over!

Oh how I love long cardigans! They’re so comfortable and great for finishing off an outfit. This green maxi cardigan* is the softest knit, it’s a joy to wear. After we took these photos I kept this outfit on to meet Isobel for coffee after school. It kept me warm and snuggly in the chilly October weather. I even remembered that I have a hat to match!

So many fabulous looks with those pants. My favorite is the last one with the long green sweater!
Thanks Amy! The green cardigan is super soft and cosy, I love it!
All of your fresh fall looks are great inspiration, Emma! I especially love the corduroy coord set, it is such a beautiful color on you. You must be very happy to be out of the boot and into regular shoes again (even if you are not quite ready for heels, yet). Thanks for sharing and posting the link up, and hope you have a good rest of the week and weekend!
Thanks very much Di! Yes, I’m very happy to be wearing proper shoes on both feet again!
I LOVE that cardigan! Your fall looks are amazing. I’m able to drive right now, but I’ve been so bogged down with a small home renovation that I just don’t feel like I have time to get to a store. I’m hoping to have it all wrapped up this weekend, return the dumpster rental with all the waste we currently have sitting on our driveway, and go find a similar cardigan for my fall 2024 look! Thanks so much for sharing, and best of luck as you continue your recovery!
Thanks so much Janice! Good luck with the renovation!
These are all wonderful pieces for a fall closet update! I especially love this knit faux fur trim vest and green cardigan. I’m sure you’ll wear them all the time this season.
I hope you are having a great week so far!

I’m loving all of these looks! That reversible jacket is fabulous! I like both sides so much I wouldn’t be able to decide which way to wear it! Glad you are on your feet again and able to take photos!
Thanks Laura! Having two in one does present that problem but it’s a nice one to have!
That was so smart of you to stockpile a bunch of outfit shots for your recovery period. But happy to see your new pieces as well, especially that amazing reversible jacket! Thanks so much for the feature—I’m flattered as always!
