Hello, I hope you’re all doing ok. I’ve just finished a five day stretch at work and now have almost two weeks off. I’m looking forward to doing some fun crafting projects with Isobel and maybe some jobs around the house. I will be making an effort to look presentable though because it makes me feel better. I also think that wearing makeup and nice clothes encourages me to be more productive; I’m not talking about heels and party frocks, but just enough polish to give me a confidence boost. So to that end, for April’s Style Not Age we’re showing you how we’re wearing comfy casuals in lockdown.
Jacqui chose this month’s theme of Comfy Casuals, which is bound to resonate with so many people at the moment. We’re all trying to strike that balance between dressing for comfort but also not losing the art of putting a nice outfit together. Hopefully we can inspire you with our stylish, comfy casual looks to wear at home.
The starting point for this outfit was the trousers; the fabric is soft and light, and they have an elasticated waistband at the back. The extra pockets are useful too as they’re ideal for slipping my phone into when I’m on the go. I featured them a few weeks ago with leopard print trainers and rust-coloured jumper. Now the weather is warmer I decided to pair them with my old favourite gold wedge espadrilles and a blush pink jumper.
I’ve always thought the concept of short sleeve jumpers a bit odd; if it’s warm enough for short sleeves then it must surely be too warm for a jumper! However, this is a lightweight knit and quite airy, so it’s perfect for Spring. The pretty studded collar means I don’t need a necklace, so I’ve chosen big circle earrings as my “feature piece” of jewellery.
If like me, your arms feel bare without a watch and/or bracelet but don’t like anything too jangly, wrap bracelets are perfect. They’re really soft and light, plus they’re not bulky so you can rest your wrists on a desk comfortably. Most have two press studs so you can adjust them to fit your wrist snuggly. I have a few of these and I love them. They’re not expensive either. I always take mine on holiday as they take up hardly any room and don’t add weight to my suitcase. Maybe I should stop thinking about holidays now before I start crying into my coffee! We should be in between trips to Cyprus and Madeira right now, but it’ll probably be next year before we next go abroad. Oh well, no point dwelling on it! I’ll just enjoy the sunshine here instead!

I think it does good for our mid to dress or selves and put on some make up. It’s exactly how you say it, it makes it more productive. Good theme!
This is such a great casual look on you! Loving the cargo trousers, I don’t own any but may need to rethink that!

Emma, this outfits is so cute! I have finally gotten out of my pajamas which I wore for the first few weeks of lockdown and have been getting dressed casually nearly every day now. It is so much better for my productivity as well. I also have always been baffled by short sleeve or sleeveless jumpers for the same reason as you, but given the perfect temperate day, they really are a great option. I love this pale pink on you and that pretty beaded collar!

Love all the comfy casual looks here Emma!
The pale pink and tan color combination is so pretty and something I would reach for. I have cargo pants in 3 colors that I love for casual comfort. The color is pretty and I agree it does help to do hair makeup and get dressed. I don’t do it every day but several times a week to feel better.
Have a great week!
stay safe
