One of my favourite things about this time of year is wearing boots and tights. Some of my dresses and skirts only work with tights (on account of fabric or length), so when the temperature drops it’s nice to pull them out of storage. This geometric print wrap dress is one of those garments. I love the colours and the pattern, but it’s quite thin jersey material, so it shows up every lump and bump (including VPLs!). Wearing tights helps to create a smooth outline and prevents any inadvertent flashing (wrap dresses have a habit of doing that!). When it gets colder I can wear a thin vest top underneath it and add a faux fur gilet for extra warmth.
I’ve worn this dress on the blog before with navy ankle boots, but today I’m debuting my gorgeous new Ruby Shoo green boots and matching bag. I love the contrast of the forest green with navy tights, and the sheen of the velvet catches the light beautifully. I adore everything about these boots – the colour, fabric, the gorgeous bow and the foot-friendly design. I’m sure you all know about my problems with my feet (I have mentioned them once or twice!). Those pesky bunions make it difficult for me to wear heels, but these are a dream! The chunky mid heel and round toe make them really comfortable. The matching bag is a great size – not too small and not too big – and has a detachable shoulder strap, so can be used as a clutch…perfect for Christmas parties!
I was looking through my jewellery to find a green pendant, then I remembered I had this wooden necklace that my mum bought for me from Pia last Christmas. It picks out the blue and orange in the print of the dress really well. I’ve looked on the Pia website but I don’t think it’s in stock, however, I’ve found one on eBay here.
I added a green cuff and tassel earrings to compliment the bag and boots, although my hair is hiding the earrings. I’m well overdue a hair cut but I will have to wait until in between Christmas and New Year when I’m back at my mum’s; I’ve had the same hairdresser for over 20 years and won’t go anywhere else…even if that means waiting months between appointments! I’m sure some of you can relate!
