I hope you had a wonderful Christmas! What did Santa bring you? I got a new phone with much more storage, which I really need. I also got new pyjamas, some vegan chocolates and toiletries. My brother, sister-in-law and niece came to stay at my mum’s and they all came over to ours for Christmas lunch, as well as my mother-in-law, so it was a full house! This week in between Christmas and New Year is always a bit confusing because nobody knows what day it is! Well, it must be Monday because it’s the last Style Not Age post of the year.
I’m sad to say that Gail has decided to leave the group and take a break from fashion posts. We’ve loved having her in this group and will miss her fabulous, colourful outfits. However, Gail will continue posting book reviews and the review of the month (on the last Friday of the month).
It was my turn to choose a theme for this month’s Style Not Age, and I wanted to think of something we hadn’t done before, but also a title that reflects the festive season. Last year we did December is For Dressing Up, Sparkle and Shine the previous year, and An LBD For NYE in 2021. I love metallics, especially gold, so I decided on Golden Girls for this month’s theme.
My Joanie Golden Girl jumper would have been the obvious choice for this challenge, but probably a bit too obvious. I’d been looking for a gold blouse for a while, and after no joy on Vinted, I bought this one from Monsoon in the sale. I actually wore this outfit (minus the jacket and clutch) on Christmas Day. The velvet trousers are always a safe bet for when I want to dress up a bit and stay comfortable. The soft fabric and elasticated waist band make sure of that!
The blouse was more of a bronze shade than I was expecting; it’s often difficult to gauge the true shade of metallics on a screen. However, the muted gold hue makes it more wearable all year round. The jacket is a brighter gold than the blouse but I like the mix of different gold tones. I wore this sequin jacket for the Style Not Age Festive Finery post in December 2021 – with the same velvet trousers too!

I love, love, love this combination of golds! I think the contrast between the blouse and the jacket makes it even more interesting. And, I love the black velvet trousers. Such a fabulous outfit, Emma!
