This is the first time I’ve worn this marigold trouser suit in its entirety; previously, I’ve paired the trousers with a brown vintage shirt, a vibrant orange top, and a blue vintage western style shirt. The reason I didn’t wear the jacket in those posts is because I didn’t have it then…I bought both the trousers and jacket on eBay, but months apart. In fact, I didn’t realise there was a matching jacket until I stumbled upon a photo of someone wearing the suit. As it happened, I’d saved a search on eBay for orange jackets and this one popped up. After some careful zooming in on photos I was confident I’d found the one…and thankfully I was right!
The marigold orange shade and slightly flared trousers appeal to my love of 70s fashion. With that in mind, I decided to wear the suit with a vintage floral print shirt which I also bought on eBay. The chunky heel ankle boots and tan saddle bag also add to the 70s vibe and make it a practical outfit for work. I added a pair of earrings that I made from polymer clay to finish off the look. I love the versatility of a good trouser suit – they give you so many styling options. This jacket will look great with jeans for a more casual outfit, or I could pair it with trousers in a contrasting colour – maybe blue or green. One thing’s for sure – you haven’t seen the last of this marigold trouser suit!
