I’ve only recently started wearing jeans again. After years of bootcut and then skinny jeans, I simply fell out of love with them. That was until I bought these palazzo style jeans from Marks and Spencer. There was a lot of hype around them, and I can see why. They are soft, comfortable and flattering. I wear them several times a week. (The dark wash is out of stock online but the light indigo is still available and I’ve been thinking about getting those too.) Since then I’ve also taken the plunge with the divisive barrel leg style (I love them but others hate them). So you could say these jeans have been my reintroduction to denim after a lengthy hiatus.
When Nancy suggested the theme of “Double Trouble Denim” I considered my upcycled jacket for the second piece, or maybe a denim shirt. But then I remembered this vintage waistcoat that seems to have been knocking around for as long as I can remember. I think it may have been my brother’s in the late 70s/early 80s. He was into rock music and wore denim and leather jackets. He’s 11 years older than me and as a child I remember hearing AC/DC blasting from his record player…it obviously influenced me!
I tried the waistcoat with the barrel leg jeans, but it looks much better with these as the cinched in waist balances out the flared legs. I’ve previously featured the waistcoat with an all blue outfit, but I wanted a contrasting colour this time. After trying various patterns and colours I settled on this lip print shirt that I bought on Vinted. I added red accessorises to complete the look. Now I’m thinking that I should wear this waistcoat more often!

“I never liked jeans. Did love denim jackets and skirts though. But I did not even wear jeans in my puberty! Everyone wore them and I really could not see the charm of them. But for the past few years I started to appreciate it a bit more and look at me now! Double trouble denim! These jeans are a favourite, and the blouse is pre loved! I wanted to wear heels but forgot all about it as my head was into leopard!”
I thrifted this long denim vest (dress) about 5 years ago and I don’t wear it often so it was the perfect piece to highlight for this thrifty challenge. I paired it with an old pair of denim shorts (not thrifted) and a newly thrifted blouse, scarf, and necklace. My moccasins were also a thrifty find a few years back. I am not a huge fan of double denim but I loved this combination!
I thrifted both the vest and shorts separately, yet they are the same brand with the same colour of thread running through them. An accidental double denim set, LOL. I had to add pops of colour with my sneakers, scarf and purse. My entire crew showcased other ways to pair double denim along with other colour variations.
“My favourite way to wear double denim is to make sure the pieces are in different colours/washes. Here I’ve paired thrifted dark blue trouser jeans with a thrifted black denim vest with pinstripes in white and a few different blue colours. For a winter-turning-to-spring colour palette, I added various shades of light blue with white and silver to complete the look.”
“‘Double Trouble Denim’ is the T6 theme for April and there sure is trouble with this denim!
These unusual and super-cool jeans are far too tight for me – I can just about get away with standing but sitting is very problematic!
They’re Italian vintage, not sure of the decade but they definitely predate stretch-denim.
The style is incredibly high-waisted with popper fastenings which can pop open at any time!
So, I’m sad because I love this look but it’s completely impractical and can never be worn…
…yet I’m happy because it’s perfect for this T6 photo shoot before the jeans are sold.”

Emma, this is such a cute look on you! I have also fallen out of love with denim but those of yours fabulous jeans would definitely make me fall in love again! I am really loving the easy loose wide legged jeans right now. If I’m going to wear jeans at all, they need to be light, loose, soft, and comfortable. Your blouse is adorable and I also really love your necklace and earrings. This was a really fun style challenge!

This is such a different look for you on your blog, but I gotta say I love it!! You definitely look fabulous in these palazzo style jeans! The red (or orange) is perfect to stand out against the blues! Love the waistcoat, too!!
