How’s your week going so far? I’ve had a busy few days clearing out the loft and donating loads of stuff to charity. We had all Isobel’s baby stuff stored away – pushchair, travel cot, high chair etc, so that has gone to the local baby bank. Yesterday we had no water all day because construction workers on a nearby housing development hit a main pipe…just as well we’re not having a heatwave! It was my birthday on Friday so me and Pete went a lovely Thai restaurant in the evening. It’s very handy that it’s a stone’s throw away from where Isobel goes to air cadets…it would be tempting to go every week as the food is so good there!
Isobel really found the perfect present for me with this fabulous orange heart bag. It was a total surprise too. She saw it in a local shop and knew instantly that I’d love it. I was keen to wear it straight away so I quickly put this outfit together at the weekend while it wasn’t raining. I bought both the green frill sleeve top and orange trousers on my last trip to Madeira. The green top is very similar to the pink and black tops with pearl embellishments. I bought all three at my favourite shop in Funchal, Dona Hortensia. Going there is one of the highlights of my trips to the island!
Just when I thought I’d done all my holiday shopping I popped into to a little arcade next to the Ritz where we stopped for a drink. There must be something about that shop because I ended up buying a pair of orange trousers there for the second time! I know I’m totally obsessed with the colour but even I wondered if I really needed another pair of orange trousers. Well I guess the answer was yes! The other pair are a completely different style, so that was how I rationalised this latest purchase.
I’ve teamed the green frill sleeve top and orange trousers with my new sandals from Strive. They are so comfortable! My feet have been getting more painful (I need bunion surgery but have been putting it off) so I have to be very careful about my footwear. All Strive footwear incorporates podiatrist designed ‘Biomechanical Footbed Technology’, which re-designs a classic flat footbed to the natural 3-dimensional contours of your feet. The arch support is fantastic and prevents my tendency to overpronate (inwards rolling) which puts more pressure on the big toe joints and knees.
The three adjustable straps are perfect for me. The times I’ve had days out ruined by uncomfortable footwear is off the charts. Stopping to patch my feet up with plasters and trying to adjust how I walk had become part of my routine. These sandals allow me to loosen/tighten the straps in three places for maximum comfort all day long. They are currently on sale with 50% off too. I love them and I’m sure you will too!
