Burgundy With a Hint of Lime

Burgundy is THE colour of the season. As far as autumn/winter shades go, it sits in that sweet spot between colour and neutral. As you know, I’m not massively into wearing neutrals, but I’ve really been drawn to burgundy and chocolate brown this year. I actually acquired this suit back in the spring; the jacket was part of a collaboration with Very, and shortly afterwards I bought the matching trousers. They proved to be wise additions to my wardrobe for this season.

I’ve seen some very stylish burgundy monochrome looks on Pinterest and Instagram, which I thought about replicating. But you know how I love combining contrasting colours! Rather than a totally monochrome look, I teamed burgundy with a hint of lime for a striking contrast. The blouse really pops against the suit, sitting on the opposite side of the colour wheel.

My new handbag from Teddy Blake goes so well with this suit and it’s the perfect size for work. This is the Lola Palmellato bag* in Bordo. It comes with a detachable strap too so can be worn as a shoulder bag. As with my other two Teddy Blake bags (seen here and here), the quality is fantastic. I added burgundy stretch boots and a wide brim hat to complete the look. Whenever I feel like dialling it down and dressing in a more neutral colour palette, burgundy, olive and brown are my preferred shades. That way I can still wear colour, but in a more understated way. They are surprisingly versatile and definitely deserve a place in anyone’s wardrobe.
